The new iconic Malabar Coastal Headland Walkway is now open!! 1.2km of boardwalk that stretches through the spectacularly scenic coastal landscape of Malabar, connecting Pioneer Park with Maroubra Beach forming part of the popular coastal walk.
After 2,600 hours of design, engineering, fabrication and install, Fleetwood Urban was proud to present the new walkway in conjunction with Randwick City Council and NWPS with a grand opening which was held on 17th February.
It was a pleasure to experience the 1st public walking trail for that national park in 150yrs come to completion and be opened by the local mayor – Cr. Lindsay Shurey.
Carefully designed to have minimal environmental impact, this walkway meanders thought dense vegetation with abundant flora and fauna diversity and over sandstone escarpments. It offers a unique coastal experience for local residents and visitors to enjoy the delights of the area.
Fleetwood’s elevated boardwalk systems are designed to not only have minimal ecological impact but also blend in and visually compliment the surrounding landscape.
In view of the sensitive surrounds of the boardwalk, it required a solution that would allow suitable and safe access whilst protecting the ecologically sensitive environment. With superior knowledge and experience in ecologically sensitive projects Fleetwood submitted a tender proposal to council and are proud to have been awarded this significant contract and had the pleasure of carrying it through to completion.
From design through to completion the latest facilities, methodology, materials and expert craftsmanship were successfully used to provide a world class easy access walking trail for public use. Fleetwood thoroughly enjoyed making this previously unpassable piece of the beautiful Sydney coastline available to the public.
